Two Rescued After Car Makes Splash Landing Into River In Westchester

Several civilians jumped into action, assisting first responders in Westchester when a car made a splash landing off the Bronx River Parkway.

Members of the Yonkers Fire Department were dispatched at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Monday afternoon to the Bronx River Parkway northbound lanes, near the Sprain Brook Parkway split, when a car went off the road and landed in the river, prompting an emergency rescue.

Officials said that firefighters, Westchester County Police officers, Yonkers Emergency Service Units, paramedics from Empress Ambulance and three civilians helped in getting two people out of the water safely.

No injuries were initially reported.
